My Story

Carrie ThaCurator is the daughter of a DJ (T-Love). She would root through his CDs when he returned home from gigs, play them for herself late at night/early in the morning; from there a calling was heard and answered. Coming up within the institutional excellence of musicianship that is the Black American Church honed an ear to pitch, rhythm, and energy that’s unmatched. Coupled with classical training in multiple instruments, Carrie’s understanding of music theory is a superpower in her arsenal of skills. This gift manifests in seamless transitions between songs and across genres. Party-goers will find themselves awash in classic favorites as often as they pull out their phones to Shazam new tracks to play on repeat. This spirit of re-acquaintance and discovery is felt deeply in events blessed with Carrie on the 1s and 2s, further enhanced by her ability to take requests, socialize, and keep the energy of the room on a steadily upward trajectory, rendering folks unable to leave the dance floor.
